URCC fight card to “bring back excitement” of MMA

The Universal Reality Combat Championship aims to bring back the excitement of Mixed Martial Arts after a three year absence in its 81st fight card to be held at Okada Manila on December 6

Called “Decades of Success”, the fight card’s Main Event will contain a three on three fight with Team Philippines’ Sugar Ray “Mammoth” Estroso, Caloy “Bad Boy” Baduria and Boss Bullet Manliclic against Team Korea’s Jeong Minhun, Choi Wontae and Jeon Youngjun

Aside from the main event, a URCC welterweight interim championship is also set between Filipino Arvin Chan and American Will Chope, while American Dunlee Stewart will face John Tirona in 170 lbs bout followed by Gester Maglaque meeting Costa Rican fighter Mariano Jones in 185 lbs division.

URCC Founder Alvin Aguilar expects the three versus three event to be an “exciting bout” inside the ring.

Estroso believes that even with their size disadvantage, they can beat the Koreans who are much taller than them.

“Sa suntok, walang malaki, pag tumama, may glagagyan”, Estroso said.

Manlicic adds that they are confident that they can beat the Koreans in the fight

Chope, who fought before in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, said he aims to win his third title in a different weight class and be a part of the URCC Hall of Fame.

Other fights in the fight card include Kimbert Alintozon battling Junie Kimayong for 125 lbs affair, Rhyle Lugo clashing against Alex Aballe in 145 lbs, and Eros Baluyot taking on MJ Abrillo for the 125 lbs bout.

URCC chairman Arnold Vegafria added the bouts between international fighters will showcase the Filipino MMA talent across the globe.

“Papakita natin sa buong mundo na magaling ang pinoy kahit foreign fighters kaya nilang taubin kaya it’s better that we have foreign fighters na lalaban ang mga Pinoy,” Vegafria said.

Vegafria also revealed that the URCC will now be seen on television soon with the signing of a new broadcast partner, as well as the creation of a new gym which will also hold URCC fights.
