Ranking every QB from ‘Must Have’ to ‘Avoid At All Cost’

Whilst the NFL season is still some way away, Fantasy Football drafts are soon set to come right into the forefront of people’s minds as they get set for their respective drafts.

Whether you’re doing it for the first time or the tenth time, whether you do so for money or some other form of bet or if you do it just to have fun, fantasy football is another great way to enjoy the NFL season.

And just like in real life, one of the main things that you need to sort out in your draft is your quarterback, who can more often that not make the difference between a good and a bad season.

With that in mind, we’ve come up with a tier ranking list of the quarterbacks around the NFL and where we think they belong when it comes to their place at the table in fantasy football world.

Using Tiermaker, we have divided the players into five categories for this:

Must have: The quarterbacks who should be top of the list when it comes to picking your starter.

Should do well: The ones who can do a solid job and that you shouldn’t be too disappointed if you end up with them.

Keep as backup: Will serve you well for one or two weeks whilst your main quarterback is injured or on a bye.

You’re struggling: If you have to be with these guys for more than the odd week and ride with them through the season, then don’t expect to make the playoffs.

Avoid at all cost: You shouldn’t have bothered turning up if you’re taking one of these guys.

There is just one thing that should be pointed out before we get to this list. For the most part it is pretty obvious who is set to be the team’s starting quarterback when the season begins in early September.

However there are a couple of teams who are set for quarterback ‘battles’ during minicamp, such as the Carolina Panthers with the likes of Sam Darnold and Matt Corrall or the Pittsburgh Steelers with Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky. Even though one may seem to be ahead of the other at this point in time, things are still somewhat up in the air and could change depending on how the rest of preseason goes.

In those instances, we have included both men based on what we think they could do if they were to take control of their team in Week 1 and stay there for the duration of the season.

With that being said, here is our list:

Must have: Justin Herbert, Aaron Rodgers, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes

Should do well: Joe Burrow, Derek Carr, Matt Stafford, Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray, Tom Brady, Ryan Tannehill, Dak Prescott, Russell Wilson, Mac Jones

Keep as backup: Matt Ryan, Kirk Cousins, Mitch Trubisky, Jameis Winston, Jalen Hurts, Carson Wentz, Trey Lance, Jimmy Garoppolo, Tua Tagovailoa

You’re struggling: Kenny Pickett, Jared Goff, Baker Mayfield, Justin Fields, Trevor Lawrence, Daniel Jones, Marcus Mariota

Avoid at all cost: Deshaun Watson, Drew Lock, Davis Mills, Zach Wilson, Sam Darnold, Desmond Ridder, Matt Corrall, Malik Willis
