Closer Report: Josh Hader, Devin Williams, Jorge Lopez (2022 Fantasy Baseball)

Welcome back to the first edition of the closer report following the trade deadline. We saw a lot of movement which completely changed up the chart from last week.

News and notes:

Josh Hader was the biggest name moved in a blockbuster trade to the Padres that sent Taylor Rogers to the Brewers. Hader will take clear command of the closer role in San Diego as Devin Williams figures to take over the closer role for Milwaukee. Rogers could factor into some late-inning work as well for the Brewers.

The Cubs emptied out the bullpen as expected, sending David Robertson to the Phillies and Scott Effross to the Yankees. Meanwhile, the Orioles sent Jorge Lopez to the Twins. Robertson and Lopez have both already recorded a save for their respective teams, as Felix Bautista and Rowan Wick figure to take over the closer roles in Baltimore and Chicago.

In Seattle, Paul Sewald remains at the top of the bullpen, but manager Scott Servais tends to use him against the best hitters on the opposing lineup in the final few innings. He is not afraid to use him before the ninth inning as we saw against the Yankees last Tuesday against the top of the lineup. Sewald pitched a 1-2-3 frame with Andres Munoz recording his second save of the season.

The Pirates placed David Bednar on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday. Wil Crowe probably leads that committee while Bednar is sidelined.
